UNEMPLOYMENT INSTRUCTIONS

File for unemployment benefits online at http://unemployment.ohio.gov. If you do not have internet access, call your processing center (the number is located on correspondence you’ve received from the ODJFS). ODJFS business hours are 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM Monday – Friday, except holidays. Please follow the instructions CAREFULLY below:

File for unemployment benefits using Mass Layoff # 2100468. Your last day worked is 10/29/2021 and your return to work date is 11/08/2021.

PLEASE NOTE: You will need to call your processing center or visit the ODJFS web site * T W I C E * - the first time to reopen or restart your application for benefits and the second time to claim your layoff week (see below):

1. SUNDAY, OCT. 31, 2021 – Open or restart application for benefits

2. SUNDAY, NOV. 7, 2021 – Claim layoff week (week ending 11/06/2021)

If you have any doubt at all about what you’re doing throughout the filing process, please hang up or log out and call the union hall for assistance. It is easier for us to help you file than it is to get your claims fixed.

Three frequent mistakes made by members are:

1. Filling out the information about the union hiring hall. UAW LOCAL 2000 IS NOT A HIRING HALL. Please do not check ANY boxes or fill in ANY information at all in the union section.

2. Answering “no” to the job search question. Whether or not you have a mass layoff number, if they ask for jobs you applied for, you must provide that information. PLEASE DO NOT EVER ANSWER “NO” TO THAT QUESTION IF IT IS ASKED OF YOU OR YOU WILL NOT GET PAID.

3. Forgetting to file for benefits or going in once to reopen the claim but not returning the second time to actually claim the week. We give complete step by step instructions for filing and it’s important that members follow them.

Please follow instructions carefully to avoid your benefits being held up!
