NOTE RE: UNEMPLOYMENT: The help we were receiving from the ODJFS with member
claims during the Covid-19 layoff is no longer being offered by ODJFS. You
MUST follow the instructions below very carefully and file in a timely manner
or YOU WILL NOT BE PAID UNEMPLOYMENT BENEFITS, as ODJFS will no longer be
back dating claims.
ASSEMBLY PLANT LAYOFF INSTRUCTIONS:
File for unemployment online at http://unemployment.ohio.gov or if you do not
have internet access, call 1.877.644.6562. ODJFS business hours are 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM Monday – Friday, except holidays. All
eligible vacation hours (up to 80 hours) must be used during this period. Please
read and follow the instructions below carefully:
WITH 40 VACATION HOURS OR MORE BUT LESS THAN 80 VACATION HOURS MUST FILE FOR
UNEMPLOYMENT BENEFITS FOR THE *2ND WEEK ONLY: You will be laid off for ONE (1) WEEK using Mass
Layoff # 2000353. Your last day worked will be 07/10/2020 (for unemployment purposes) and your return to work date
is 07/20/2020. On Sunday, 07/12/2020, you will open or
restart your claim. On Sunday,
07/19/2020, you will file a claim for week
ending 07/18/2020. Please note:
You will be paid for 40 hours vacation for the first week but any vacation
hours remaining must be claimed on the 2nd week X your base wage. Example: 56 hours total vacation time - 40 hours paid for the first week,
additional 16 hours X base wage will
need to be claimed when you file for unemployment benefits on Sunday, July 19th
when you file for benefits. $16.67 X 16
hours = $266.72.
WITH LESS THAN 40 VACATION HOURS WILL FILE FOR UNEMPLOYMENT BENEFITS FOR BOTH
WEEKS: You will be
laid off for TWO (2) WEEKS using Mass Layoff # 2000352. Your last
day worked will be 07/03/2020 and
your return to work date is 07/20/2020.
On Sunday, 07/05/20, you will open
or restart your claim. On Sunday,
07/12/2020, you will file a claim for week
ending 07/11/2020. On Sunday, 07/19/2020, you will file a claim for week ending 07/18/2020. You do not have
any holiday pay to claim but you must
claim any vacation pay received less than 40 hours. PLEASE NOTE: If you have 40 hours you don’t claim anything for
the first week.
INFORMATION: If you have one year
seniority or more, are eligible for SUB pay and have not served your waiting
week, you will be denied unemployment benefits. You must go to the ODJFS web
site and print your unemployment benefit payment documents showing ZERO amount
paid as well as the document under the “Claim Details” section, “View Claim
Summary/Payment History” that shows “WW Served” as the most current status and
take them to Human Resources to sign up for your SUB pay. If you aren’t able to print your paystub showing ZERO AMOUNT PAID,
print ANYTHING from the ODJFS with your Social Security number on it and use
that instead. Signing up for SUB this time will start your auto SUB for one
year in the event of future layoffs.
