INFORMATION BULLETIN - December 16, 2004

The Plant will shut down for the Christmas holidays on December 23, 2004 (at the completion of your shift), and will not resume normal production until January 3, 2005. It is important that you understand the general eligibility rules on Christmas holiday pay: 

bulletA seniority employee absent without excuse on either the last scheduled working day prior to, or the next scheduled working day after, the Christmas holiday period, shall be ineligible for one of the holidays for which he/she would otherwise be eligible in the holiday period.
 
bulletIf an eligible employee misses both the scheduled day before and the scheduled day after, he/she will not be eligible for any Christmas holiday pay. If you have any questions concerning this provision, contact your Committeeperson or Chairman.
 
bulletSeniority employees who have gone on sick leave during the workweek prior to, or during the workweek in which the holiday(s) falls, shall receive pay for such holiday period. A seniority employee who is on sick leave when the holiday(s) occurs, who would return to work following the holiday(s), but during the week in which the holiday(s) falls, shall receive pay for such holiday(s

NOTE: Medical Leave/Placements returning to work during the Christmas holidays' shutdown MUST SIGN-IN AT HUMAN RESOURCES
in order to receive any holiday pay. A sign-in sheet will be on the counter in Labor Relations.

HOLIDAY CONVERSION: Eligible hourly employees who work and wish to convert the Christmas holiday for December 24TH, must do so before midnight Friday, December 24, 2004. Also, for the holidays December 27th through December 31, 2004, the books will be open in Human Resources during that week.

CHECK PICK-UP SCHEDULE DURING THE HOLIDAYS: Pay ending December 26th, will be paid Thursday, December 30, 2004, between 9:00 A.M. and 1:00 P.M. in the main lobby by the cafeteria.

UNEMPLOYMENT INFORMATION: New hires, hired in September, October and November must call the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS) at 877-644-6562 to file a claim. In order to receive holiday pay you must have completed 3 months of continuous service.

SUPPLEMENTAL OPT OFF POOL FOR NON-APPENDIX F SKILLED TRADES is December 1st through December 31st.

CLOTHE-A-CHILD COLLECTION: Thank you to all for your contributions to this years collection. The total was $7,177.50.

OFFICES CLOSED: Local 2000 and all UAW International offices will be closed during the holidays.

UAW LEGAL SERVICES will be closed the duration of the holidays.

SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM BENEFITS HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATES: Ever since this program started in September, 1996 through December, 2003, the dependent children of members of UAW Local 2000 have received $1,609,810.00 in scholarship monies for attending college or vocational school after they graduated from high school. Hopefully your dependent children are getting their share. For more information on this program, contact Ray Berisko, E.T.C., at 933-1399.

UNION MEETING: The next scheduled union meeting is Sunday, January 9, 2005, at the Local Union Hall, 3151 Abbe Road at 2:30 P.M. Agenda: Discussion and vote of proposed by-laws changes and recommendations from the By-Laws Committee.
