INFORMATION BULLETIN - November 9, 2007

REMINDER:
NATIONAL CONTRACT INFORMATION AND Q & A MEETINGS will be held at Lorain County Community College Spitzer Conference Center, 1005 Abbe Road in Elyria, Ohio, 44035, beginning at 9:00 AM until 1:00 PM for 3rd shift and from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM for the 2nd shift. Those on 1st shift may attend either of the meetings. Please attend the meeting designated for your shift (above) so the conference center is not overcrowded. All full-time members, TFT’s and TPT’s are eligible to vote.

RATIFICATION VOTE: Voting hours increased. Voting will also take place at The Spitzer Conference Center from 8:00 AM until 7:00 PM on Monday, November 12th. Please follow the yellow Spitzer Conference signs directing you to our meeting place.

MEETING SCHEDULE: Understandably, some members are upset that the information meetings and voting are taking place on a workday. Due to time constraints and meeting room availability, we had no choice other than having our meeting on Monday the 12th.

CORRECTION: NEXT PAID HOLIDAY IS Friday, November 16th, in observance of Veterans Day. You must work Thursday, Nov. 15th or have an approved absence to be paid the holiday. We apologize for any inconvenience or confusion the type-o in the last bulletin may have caused.

HOLIDAY CONVERSION: Eligible hourly employees who work the day Veteran’s Day is observed (November 16th) and wish to convert it must do so before midnight on Friday November 16th.

NO ABSENTEE VOTING: Per the UAW Constitution, Article 38 Section 10(B), there will be no absentee voting. The only elections you may apply for absentee voting in are Executive Officers and the Constitutional Convention.

LOCAL NEGOTIATIONS: Local negotiations are still ongoing. Copies of the local contract highlights will be in the plant as soon as possible after a tentative agreement is reached. Once a tentative agreement has been reached, you will be notified of a meeting time and place for voting on the local agreement.

TENTATIVE CONTRACT HIGHLIGHTS:

1. PLEASE bring your highlights with you if you are attending the informational meetings.
      

2. Copies of the unpublished letters are available at the union hall upon request. Regular business hours at the hall are 8:30 AM to 12:00 PM and 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday.

GATE COLLECTION: A gate collection is being held today to collect money to purchase food for the needy within Lorain County. We encourage everyone to participate in helping to feed those who are less fortunate than we are during this holiday season.

NEXT UNION MEETING: Due to the membership’s action at the October union meeting, the December membership meeting will be December 2nd at UAW Local 2000 Union Hall at 2:30 PM.
