INFORMATION BULLETIN - October 27,
2004ELECTION DAY:
Tuesday, November 2nd, Federal Election Day is a scheduled day off
with pay, to exercise your "Right to Vote". Don't lose this
negotiated day off... Please VOTE... As all other paid
holidays, you must work Monday, November 1st and Wednesday, November
3rd, the day after, or have approved day(s) off to be paid for
election day. Again, be sure to VOTE...
UAW CAP RECOMMENDATIONS: You
should have received, in the mail, this week, the UAW CAP
recommendations. The recommendations are made by the delegates of CAP
Council. We have nine UAW locals in Lorain County, each local has
delegates that vote for which candidates to recommend. The candidates
voting record or stance on issues, pertaining to working families and
social issues are considered. Please consider voting for the UAW CAP
recommendations. Having Election Day off with pay, is something most
workers dont have.
BE A PART OF THIS HISTORIC ELECTION:
Volunteers are needed for poll
watchers, drivers, literature drops, etc. If you would like to work
any part of election day, please call the union hall by Friday,
October 29th, by 5:00 p.m., 934-3151 ext 21.
HOLIDAY CONVERSION: Eligible
hourly employees who work and wish to convert Election Day, November
2nd, must do so before midnight Friday, November 5, 2004. Also, to
convert the Veterans' Day holiday, November 12, 2004, the books will
be open in Human Resources from November 8th through midnight November
12th.
NEXT PAID HOLIDAY: November 12th
, Veterans' Day, is the next scheduled paid holiday. (You must work
Thursday, November 11, 2004, or must have an approved day off to be
paid for the holiday.)
REMINDER: The Women's Committee
still has tickets available for their dance being held Saturday,
November 6th, cost is $8.00 per person. For further information and
tickets, please contact a member of the Women's Committee: Paula
Weaver, Laura Jones, Angela Amstutz, Sophie Langer, Patricia Roberts,
Pat Singleton or Arlene Spurlock. A GOOD TIME FOR ALL.
FLU SHOTS CANCELLED: Flu shots,
that were scheduled at the union hall, have been cancelled and at this
time, will not be rescheduled.
FOOTBALL RIVALRY FOOD DRIVE:
Amherst High School and Avon Lake High School football teams are
undefeated. We have asked the schools to hold a competitive food drive
at their football game this Friday, October 29th, to determine which
city has the biggest heart. Both schools have accepted the challenge.
We are in need of volunteers to help collect the food at the gates
from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at Avon Lake High School. You will
receive a school sweatshirt of your choice for helping. If interested

GATE COLLECTION: A gate
collection will be held on Friday, November 5th, to collect money to
purchase food for the needy within Lorain County. Hoping that they,
too, will have a wonderful Thanksgiving.
CAPE SHOE SALES COMES TO OHAP:
American made work boots and shoes made by members of UAW Local 1930
in Missouri, will be in the plant on November 19th from 6:30 a.m. till
9:00 p.m. They will be located in the main isle near the main
cafeteria. Payroll deduction, VISA and Mastercard, Debit/Credit cards
and personal checks will be accepted.
46th ANNUAL REGION 2-B, UAW BOWLING
TOURNAMENT: Open to all Region 2-B, UAW members (active and
retired) and spouses ONLY. The selected weekends for the tournament
are as follows: January 29-30, February 5-6, and February 12-13, 2005.
Only official entry forms will be accepted, no copies, forms are
available at the local union hall. Your entry fee must be paid by
CHECK or MONEY ORDER ONLY, made payable to Region 2-B, UAW. Because of
new regulations, absolutely no cash will be accepted. The deadline for
entries is November 19, 2004. Any questions, please call the union
hall.
NEXT UNION MEETING: The next
scheduled union meeting is Sunday, November 14th, at the local union
hall at 2:30 p.m.
