INFORMATION BULLETIN - October 16, 2007

DOWN WEEK: Chairman Nick Gallogly has been advised by the company that there will be no production the week of October 22nd due to a parts shortage (tires), with the possibility of an additional down week in November or December.

UNEMPLOYMENT INFORMATION: The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS) no longer has unemployment forms. You must file for unemployment by calling 1.877.644.6562 or by filing online at http://unemployment.ohio.gov. Some information for filing your claim is listed as follows:

  1. You must use the claim number (700489) provided by ODJFS for the week your layoff begins when filing for unemployment.

  2. PLEASE NOTE: You must access the ODJFS website TWICE or call ODJFS TWICE to receive benefits.

  3. Full details and instructions from the ODJFS are available on the reverse side of this bulletin, in Human Resources and at the union hall. The ODJFS instructions will also be posted on our website at www.uawlocal2000.org.

  4. PLEASE follow the ODJFS instructions carefully.

SUB PAY / UNEMPLOYMENT DETERMINATION: Sub pay will be automatic for members who have been laid off any time in the last 52 weeks prior to this layoff week, and have already received unemployment compensation during this past year. Members who will be on layoff status and serving their waiting week will be denied unemployment and must take their ODJFS Determination Notice to Human Resources to file for sub pay for your waiting week. Signing up for sub this time will start your auto sub for one year in case of future layoffs.

National and local negotiations are continuing with Ford Motor Company. The UAW and Ford still have an indefinite extension on negotiations. There has been no information released to the local union structure regarding ongoing negotiations with the UAW International and the company.

The picket duty roster will be posted on our website at www.uawlocal2000.org this week. In the event of a strike at Ford, all employees that are full time, TPT’s and TFT’s must participate in a strike activity assigned to you by the local union on the dates and times specified (picket duty, etc.). There are no exceptions to this rule. Please remember to be at the union hall ½ hour before your assigned time. While you are on the website, you may want to sign up to receive information bulletins and the latest news at home by entering your email address in the signup box on the right side of the web page.

FLU SHOTS / REVISED TIME: Flu shots will be made available to the public at Local 2000 Union Hall on November 8th from 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM. The cost of the shots will be $10.00 each. Medicare will be billed for Medicare cardholders.

LORAIN COUNTY LABOR AGENCY CASINO TRIP: Day trip to Greektown Casino Sunday November 4, departing 8:00 AM from Amherst Super K parking lot, returning at 7:00 PM. ANNUAL THANKSGIVING FOOD DRIVE: We will be collecting food for the needy now through November 16th. Donations of non-perishable foods may be dropped off in the main lobby by the medical department, at the top of the ramp in the old administration building or at the union hall. We also ask the same if you plan on attending the November and/or December Local 2000 Membership Meetings, UAW-CAP Council Meetings, Lorain County Labor Agency Meetings or the retiree Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners to help us in our effort to help feed the needy during the upcoming holiday season.

JDRF FUNDRAISERS: To date over $9,600.00 has been raised for Juvenile Diabetes research from the gate collection, candy and stuffed animal sales. A 50/50 raffle will be held soon.
