HURRICANE RELIEF DONATIONS ARE BEING
ACCEPTED AT LOCAL 2000: Items being accepted are as follows:
New, like new or gently used shoes, clothing items and bedding
(including mattresses). Cleaning supplies, toiletries, kitchen
utensils and non-perishable food items are also being accepted. The
collection began at midnight (12:00 AM) on October 2nd, 2005 and
will end at midnight (12:00 AM) on October 7th, 2005. The collection
will run 24 hours a day, non-stop. Thank you in advance for your
donations.
MANDATORY SATURDAY (BOTH SHIFTS)
is scheduled for the following date: October 15th, with the
possibility of more being added on at a later date. Schedules are
subject to change.
HURRICANE KATRINA GATE COLLECTION:
$5,624.00 was collected at our plant, the GEN bank at Lorain
Assembly and the consolidation contractor’s gate. Thank you to all
who donated. Special thanks to all of the members from GEN who
manned the gates.
DAY OF CARING: To date,
$880.00 and an assortment of non-perishable goods were collected
from the gate collection at our plant and from the GEN bank at
Lorain Assembly. Thank you to all who donated. Special thanks to
Local 2000 Retiree’s Al Bakaletz, Glenn Eubank, Ed Koerner, Wendell
Layne, Bob Majjasie and Karl Molnar for manning the gates.

FLU SHOTS are scheduled to be
at our union hall on Saturday, October 29th, 2005 from 9:00 AM to
1:00 PM at the cost of $8.00 per shot. Shots for children with
parental permission, people with chronic health problems and senior
citizens are all encouraged to get this vaccination.
REGION 2-B V-CAP DRIVE: There
were three winners of $100.00 each from Local 2000: Joe Hribar, Jay
Kiska and John Stafford. A complete list of winners will be
published in the next Local 2000 Vanguard. Thanks to all of you who
bought and sold tickets.

UAW REGION 2-B SCHOLARSHIP:
Applications for the Richard T. Gosser Scholarship Program are
available at the union hall or from ETC Ray Berisko (933.1399).
Applicant must be a high school senior graduating between January
2006 and July 2006. Applications MUST be received on or before
October 15th, 2005 (no exceptions).
NEXT UNION MEETING: Our next
