INFORMATION: The cost of living formula is unavailable at
this time. We will post it at all authorized entrances/exits as
soon as we receive the information from up north.
NEXT PAID HOLIDAY:
Memorial Day, Monday, May 28th is our next paid holiday. You must
work Tuesday May 29th, the day after to the holiday to receive
holiday pay, or have an excused absence for that day but you MUST
work your next scheduled day. Example: If you have May 29th
and May 30th off with an excused absence, you STILL MUST WORK May
31st to get paid for the holiday.
HOLIDAY CONVERSION
FOR MEMORIAL DAY: The book will be open in the Human Resources
Department May 28th to June 1st for all eligible hourly employees
who work and wish to convert the holiday to an additional day of
excused absence.
SHIFT PREFERENCE:
Sign up in the Human Resources Department June 4th through June 8th.
SUPPLEMENTAL OPT OFF
POOL:
Sign up in Human Resources the month of June (June 1st through June
30th), if you have the qualifications.
SCHOLARSHIP WINNER:
Congratulations to Jordan Alexandra Kolarik and her parents Gary and
Andrea Kolarik. Jordan is Local 2000’s first recipient of the UAW
Region 2B Richard T. Gosser Scholarship Program. She won one of the
ten $10,000.00 (ten thousand dollar) scholarship awards that are
awarded to the children of UAW members in Region 2-B. Gary Kolarik
is an electrician in our plant.
VACATION SHUTDOWN:
The company has notified the Chairman that vacation shutdown will be
during the weeks of July 2nd and July 9th. We will be returning to
work on July 16th.
LOCAL 2000 ANNUAL
PICNIC: This year, Local 2000’s annual picnic will be held at
Jacob’s Field on July 29th. The game is the Cleveland Indians versus
the Minnesota Twins and the start time is 1:05 PM. Tickets will be
sold at the June 10th Local 2000 membership meeting and in the plant
on June 22nd and June 25th. Bob Mey, Sophie Langer, Tim Youngless,
Sue Piscione and Tony Garcia of the Recreation Committee will also
have tickets available for sale. Adult tickets are $20.00,
children’s tickets are $10.00 (ages 3-10) and all children 2 and
under do not need a ticket. The package includes ticket and a 2 ½
hour all you can eat buffet. The picnic starts when the gates open
at 11:30 AM. The menu for our picnic this year will be BBQ chicken,
BBQ pulled pork, hot dogs, rigatoni, baked beans, potato salad,
cookies and assorted Pepsi products. All children 14 and under will
receive a Slider Potato Head and will be allowed to run the bases
post-game. Also, 20 kids will win exclusive autograph session with
selected Cleveland Indians players.
RESOLUTION FORMS:
2007 Local Contract resolution forms will be available from your
Chairman, Bargaining Committeepersons, and District Committeepersons
and will also be available at the local union hall on June 1st.
Resolutions must be turned in NO LATER THAN June 30th at the union
hall.
FAMILY DAYS --
“REMINDER”:
There are approximately three (3) more months left to use your two
(2) “Family Days” that were negotiated in our 1999 National
Contract. If you don’t use them, you lose them. Family Days must be
used by September 14th.
MARCH OF DIMES FUND
RAISER:
The candy and stuffed animal sale, along with the gate collection
for the March of Dimes to benefit babies, totaled over $10,000.00.
Thanks to all, and a special thanks to all our members who
coordinated this year’s fundraiser on their own time.
5th ANNUAL REGION
2-B, UAW SOFTBALL DOUBLE ELIMINATION TOURNAMENT to be held at
Rumpke Park in Cincinnati, Ohio on August 25th and 26th. Competitive
Bracket is for members and spouses regardless of age, the
Recreational Bracket is for members and spouses ages 40 and over,
and there is also a Women’s Only Bracket. Entry forms must be
received by June 22nd, with no exceptions. For further information
and entry forms, please stop by the local union hall.
MEMBERSHIP MEETING:
Our June membership meeting will be held on Sunday June 10th at
U.A.W. Local 2000, 3151 Abbe Road, Sheffield Village, OH.
