INFORMATION BULLETIN -
May 2, 2005Message from the Election
Committee: Polls will be open May 5th at 12:00 AM for a 24-hour
period. Prior to Election Day, if you do not have a valid ID, please
go to the Human Resource Department for a temporary ID card. Members
must present their Ohio Assembly ID card or other suitable ID at the
time of voting.
Each candidate is allowed a
challenger. However, the committee recommends designating one
challenger for more than one candidate due to space limitations. The
identity of your challenger(s) must be provided in writing to the
Election Committee Chairman (Edwin Candelario) no less than 1 hour
prior to the opening of the polls. Challengers must report to the
registration table to receive badge and rules.
Thank you in advance for your
cooperation, UAW Local 2000 Election Committee
The election trailers are located
on the Abbe Road side of the plant near the administration building.
20 DAY RULE REMINDER:
Disability Benefits – “20 Day Rule” Requirements: Should you need to
go on disability, PLEASE follow applicable rules. In accordance with
the Collective Bargaining Agreement, employees must file their claim
for disability benefits with UniCare within 20 calendar days of the
start of their illness or injury.
“Written notice of injury or sickness
must be given to the Insurer within 20 days after the date of the
accident causing such injury or the commencement of disability
resulting from such sickness or as soon as is reasonably possible…
Failure to furnish such proof within
the time required shall not invalidate nor reduce any claim if it
was not reasonably possible to give proof within such time, provided
such proof is furnished as soon as reasonably possible…”
Please note: Employees filing
workers’ compensation claims must also file a disability claim with
UniCare within 20 days of the start of their injury or illness.
Application of this language is
effective May 1, 2005. If an employee does not file a claim with
UniCare for disability benefits within 20 calendar days from the
date of disability and they do not have a reasonable justification
for a delay in filing, the claim will be denied, regardless of the
validity of the disability.
A complete Benefits Bulletin may be
obtained in Human Relations or from either UAW Benefits
Representative at the plant or at the UAW hall.
