INFORMATION BULLETIN - April 22, 2004

ELECTION OF UNIT 1, B.C.: The election to fill the vacancy left by the retirement of Jimmy Souris, Bargaining Committeeperson, will be held on May 13, 2004, at the plant in the Thunderbird Room in the main lobby by Human Resources. Notices will be posted, in the plant, as to nominations and time. Only members currently in Unit 1 are eligible to run for this position and vote in this election. NEXT PAID HOLIDAY: Monday, May 31st, Memorial Day, is our next paid holiday. You must work the day after the holiday, Tuesday, June 1st, to receive holiday pay, or have an excused absence for that day, but MUST work your next scheduled day.

UNIT 2 TENTATIVE WORK SCHEDULE: Ten (10) hours per day is projected to begin the first week in May. Saturdays are tentatively scheduled for May 1st and May 15th, having material protected.

UNIT 2, ORDER BANK: As if today, April 23rd, the Escape's order bank is 3,867.

WORKERS' MEMORIAL DAY is April 28th, on this day we remember workers who were killed or injured on the job. In 2003, nine (9) UAW members were killed when working. Local observances will take place in Elyria at the Workers' Memorial Monument on the north side of the County Courthouse at 12:00 noon and the Workers' Memorial Monument in front of the Lorain City Hall, 200 West Erie Avenue, Lorain at 5:30 p.m.

LIFESTYLE MANAGEMENT CLASSES: Lifestyle Management-Planning Your Future is a program designed for UAW-Ford employees and their spouses/partners. Classes will meet Tuesday, April 27, May 4, 11, 18 & 25, from 2:00 P.M. till 4:00 P.M., and will also be available on Wednesday, April 28, May 5, 12, 19 & 26, from 6:00 P.M. till 8:00 P.M., at the local union hall. Topics to be covered: "Introduction to Lifestyle Management, Health and Family", "Legal Benefits", "UAW-Ford Retirement, "Social Security", and "Money and Finance". Sign up in the Learning Center or call 933-1414.

UAW LOCAL 2000 WEBSITE: Your local website, www.uawlocal2000.org, recently received recognition during the Labor Union Press Association Conference held at Walter May Reuther UAW Family Education Center, Black Lake, Onaway, Michigan. The site was given two first place awards in the following categories - Website Layout and Website Content.

AMERICAN RED CROSS BLOOD DRIVE: The Bloodmobile will be at the Ohio Assembly Plant, North Abbe Road, Avon Lake, on Wednesday, April 28, 2004, from 1:00 P.M. till 6:00 P.M....PLEASE DONATE blood at this Blood Drive and receive a Damon's Grill coupon. UAW MURRAY is scheduled to be at our Local Union Hall on May 8th with garden equipment discounted for our members. Watch for postings in the plant and on your website.

NEXT UNION MEETING: Due to Mother's Day falling on the second Sunday of May the Membership voted at the April meeting to change the May meeting to May 2, 2004 at 2:30 p.m. at the local union hall.
