INFORMATION BULLETIN -
April 8, 2005On the reverse side of this bulletin,
please find a copy of the correspondence I received from the UAW
International President’s Office late afternoon on Friday April 8th,
2005. Please note that the appellant’s name (to whom the
correspondence was originally addressed) has been removed from the
copy to respect his privacy.
The appeal was denied and not found
to be in violation of Article 19, Sections 1, 3 and 6 of the UAW
International Constitution.
Please note paragraph four (4)
states, “The action being taken is within the terms of the
Collective Bargaining Agreement and the decision for the effected
members to vote and elect their representatives for the next term in
Unit 1 appears to be in the best interest of the membership.”
Therefore, action taken at the April
3rd, 2005 UAW Local 2000 membership meeting to have the election for
Units 1, 2 and 3 is null and void. The membership cannot take
action on collective bargaining issues.
UAW Local 2000 will proceed with the
General Election as follows: Unit 1 (skilled, production) and Unit 3
(nurses). The election and the run-off election (if necessary) are
still May 5th, 2005 and May 12th, 2005, per membership action.
Nominations will be open from April 18th, 2005 through April 24th,
2005 with the drawing of numbers to be held at the local union hall
on Monday April 25th, 2005 at 3:00 p.m.
