VACATION
SHUTDOWN: Chairman Nick Gallogly has been advised by the Company
that the weeks of vacation shutdown will be July 7th and July 14th.
BEST WISHES to all of our
members who have chosen to retire, we wish you many healthy and
happy years of retirement. Also, best wishes for the future to those
members who have chosen separation packages.
FAMILY DAYS / RETIRING OR TAKING A
PACKAGE: Those retiring or taking a package that have not used
their family days must do so before their last day of work or those
days will be lost.
TENTATIVE DOWN WEEK: Chairman
Nick Gallogly has been advised by the Company that the week of May
19th is a scheduled down week. As always, schedules are subject to
change.
GENERAL ELECTION CANDIDATES:
Nominations can only be accepted by **certified** mail or
dropped off at the union hall from April 14th to April 20th.
We cannot accept them before of after that time period. Forms are
available at the union hall. All candidates should stop at the union
hall on or after Monday April 7th and get the
following information provided by the Local 2000 Election Committee:
General Election and Campaign Rules, Rules for Challengers and
information regarding inspection of the membership list,
distribution of campaign literature and allegations of misconduct.
MARCH OF DIMES GATE COLLECTION and
MARCH OF DIMES WALK AMERICA: The annual plant gate collection
will be this Friday April 4th to benefit the March of Dimes. The
walk will be April 27th. If you would like any further information,
please contact your ERC’s: Amy Jaynes-Brown at ext.1244, Annette
Fuller at ext. 1382, Tom May at ext. 1341 or Gerald Pippens at ext.
1095. In the near future, there will be information available
regarding the following March of Dimes fundraisers: Bowling for
Babies, which will be on April 20th from 3:00 to 6:00 PM at the cost
of $20.00 per person, basket raffles, another lottery board and
others. The winner of the March of Dimes Lottery Board was Mike
Pitts.
DEPENDENT AUDIT: The Company
will continue to conduct dependent audits. This is a company
wide audit of all employees. PLEASE NOTE: The Company will
mail notifications to the last known address that you reported to
the Human Resources Department at our plant. To avoid not receiving
your audit, and to also avoid your dependants from being removed
from your insurance plan, make sure your address and phone
number are current.
Many of the Election Notices mailed
out to our membership have been returned to us for insufficient
addresses. Please contact Linda at the union hall at 440.934.3151,
extension 21 immediately if you have not received your Election
Notice. It is very important that your contact information is
kept current with both the union and the company to stay informed.
CASINO BUS TRIP: The
Recreation Committee is sponsoring a casino bus trip to Seneca
Allegany in New York on May 25th. Those taking the trip are meeting
at 7:45 AM at Super K-Mart at Leavitt Road and Route 58 in Amherst.
The bus will leave promptly at 8:00 AM and will return
around 9:00 PM. The cost is $40 per person. Beverages and snacks
will be provided on the bus and $20 in coins and $5.00 in food will
be given at the casino. Limited seating is available and you must
have a valid state/federal issued government photo ID. Payment
must be received at the union hall by April 22nd. For

49TH ANNUAL REGION 2-B SINGLES
GOLF TOURNAMENT: The tournament will be held on Saturday May
17th and on Sunday June 22nd at Hawthorne Hills and Saturday and
Sunday, June 14th and 15th at Thunderbird Hills. The tournament is
open to all Region 2-B members (active or retired) and their
spouses. It will be conducted on a first-come first-serve basis. All
applications must be as foursomes and no singles or any variations
will be processed. Applications and full details are available
at the union hall.
U.A.W. FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP:
Applications are available at the union hall for the 2008 Walter and
May Reuther U.A.W. Family Scholarship being held at the U.A.W.
Education Center at Black Lake in Onaway, Michigan on the weeks of
July 6-11, July 13-18, and July 20-25. A $50.00 refundable
registration fee must be submitted with the application. Members
must use vacation time, personal time or take a union leave of
absence to attend.
THE NEXT MONTHLY MEMBERSHIP
MEETING will be on April 13th at 2:30 PM at Southview High
School, 2270 East 42nd Street in Lorain.
