BEST WISHES: To all of our
members who have chosen to retire, we wish you many healthy and
happy years of retirement. Also, best wishes for the future to those
members who have chosen the STEP and Educational Programs.
TENTATIVE SATURDAYS: The
company has advised Chairman Nick Gallogly and the Bargaining
Structure that there will be a mandatory Saturday for both shifts on
April 8th, 2006. Please note: schedules are always subject to
change.
REMINDER: RESOLUTIONS AND
CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENTS: The deadline for Resolutions and
Constitutional Amendments is 5:00 PM on April 5th, 2006. Resolution
forms are available at the local union hall and are also posted on
our web site at www.uawlocal2000.org. The 34th Constitutional
Convention is scheduled to convene in Las Vegas, Nevada on June
12th, 2006.
AFL-CIO TRADE SHOW: The
AFL-CIO Trade Show will be held at the IX Center in Cleveland this
year on May 5th through May 7th, 2006. The trade show features 100%
union-made, American-made products, services and jobs. It also
features live demonstrations, free samples, family fun and one
million dollars in free prizes. Admission is free. The hours are
11:00 AM to 8:00 PM on Friday and Saturday and 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM
on Sunday.
MARCH OF DIMES WALK AMERICA:
Our annual fundraisers will begin the week of April 10th, 2006.
Walkers will have candy bars, pledge tennis shoes and 2006 March of
Dimes stuffed animals for sale. There will be a plant gate
collection on Thursday April 13th. If you would like to be a
volunteer or a walker, please contact your ERC’s: Tom May at
extension 1431, Gerald Pippens at extension 1095, Amy Jaynes-Brown
at extension 1244 or Annette Fuller at extension 1982.
47TH ANNUAL REGION 2-B SINGLES
GOLF TOURNAMENT: The tournament will be held on Saturday June
17th and Sunday June 18th, 2006 at Thunderbird Hills Golf Club in
Huron, Ohio and on Saturday May 20th and Sunday June 25th, 2006 at
the Hawthorne Hills Golf Club in Lima, Ohio. The tournament is open
to all active employees and retirees and their spouses. It will be
conducted on a first-come first-serve basis. All applications must
be as foursomes. Applications and full details are available at the
local union hall.
U.A.W. FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP:
Applications are available at the union hall for the 2006 Walter and
May Reuther U.A.W. Family Scholarship being held at the U.A.W.
Education Center at Black Lake in Onaway, Michigan on the weeks of
July 9th through 14th, July 16th through 21st and July 23rd through
28th, 2006. A $50.00 refundable registration fee must be submitted
with the application. Members must use vacation time, personal time
or take a union leave of absence to attend.
UNION MEETING: The next
scheduled union meeting is Sunday April 9th, 2006 at Southview High
School, 2270 East 42nd Street in Lorain at 2:30 PM.
