INFORMATION BULLETIN - March 10, 2005

MEETING WITH GERALD BANTOM AND LLOYD MAHAFFEY: Unit 1 and Unit 2 Chairmen, Bargaining Committeemen and myself, along with Local 425 Representatives, met with U.A.W. National Ford Director Gerald Bantom and staff and U.A.W. Regional 2-B Director Lloyd Mahaffey and staff. The following is the information we have at this time, Provided by the U.A.W. National Ford Department. We were told by Director Bantom that more meetings about the consolidation are forthcoming.

bulletUnit 2 employees will have the right to transfer to Kansas City Assembly with the operation, with full seniority.
bulletUnit 1 Employees will then have the option to transfer to Kansas City if there are slots available, with full seniority.
bulletPlant seniority will be leveled per the local contract after Unit 2 goes down.
bulletThe consolidation will be considered a covered event, all members of Local 2000 will be GEN protected.
bulletLorain Assembly will be closed per the 2003 National Agreement.
bulletLocal 425 will be dissolved.
bulletLocal 2000 will retain jurisdiction of the Ohio Assembly Plant.
bulletAt the time of the Lorain closing, employees at Lorain Assembly Plant will transfer to the Ohio Assembly Plant with full seniority and fall under jurisdiction of the Unit 1 traditional contract.

As more details are available, your local union leadership will keep you informed in future Information Bulletins.

C.O.L.A. RAISE: You will be receiving a cost of living raise of six cents (6˘) effective Monday, March 7, 2005. Therefore, the total cost-of-living received in your paycheck will be seventy-three cents (73˘) per hour.

NEXT PAID HOLIDAYS: Good Friday, March 25th and the day after Easter, March 28th are our next paid holidays. You must work Thursday March 24th, the day prior to the holiday, and Tuesday March 29th, the day after the holiday, to receive holiday pay, or have an excused absence for that day but you MUST work your next scheduled day. Example: If you have March 29th and March 30th off with an excused absence, you STILL MUST WORK March 31st to get paid for the holiday.

REMINDER: ELECTION COMMITTEE ELECTION will be held at the local union hall on March 13, 2005. Polls will be open from 1 PM to 5 PM.

GENERAL ELECTION: Per membership approval at the February regular monthly union meeting, the General Election will be held on May 5, 2005 and the Run-Off Election will be held on May 12, 2005.

CORRECT ADDRESS & PHONE NUMBER NEEDED: To protect your job, it is very important that you keep your records up to date. Please go to Human Resources and give them your correct address and phone number. You can either call or stop in at the union hall to be sure your records are correct there (440-934-3151 Ext. 21).

2006 MARINER MODEL CHANGE: Job one for the 2006 Mariner has been rescheduled for May 9th. The start of the four month period for rebalance will be May 23, 2005 (hours and dates subject to change).

MARCH OF DIMES WALK AMERICA: Our annual fundraisers will begin the week of March 14, 2005. Walkers will have candy bars, pledge tennis shoes and 2005 March of Dimes Easter bunnies for sale. There will be a plant gate collection on Friday March 18th. If you would like to be a volunteer or a walker, please contact your Unit ERC’s: Unit 1 – Tom May, Ext. 1431, Gerald Pippens, Ext. 1095, Unit 2 – Amy Jaynes-Brown at Ext. 1222 or Jackie Gondek at Ext. 1282.

UNION MEETING: The next scheduled union meeting is Sunday, March 13, 2005, at the Local Union Hall, 3151 Abbe Road at 2:30 PM.
