INFORMATION BULLETIN - February 21, 2008

MEMBERSHIP MEETING RELOCATION: Due to increased member attendance at the monthly membership meetings, I (Tim Donovan) requested Executive Board authorization to move the location of the March, April, May and June membership meetings to Southview High School, 2270 East 42nd Street, Lorain, 44055.

THE NEXT MONTHLY MEMBERSHIP MEETING will be on March 9th at 2:30 PM at Southview High School, 2270 East 42nd Street in Lorain.

UPDATED RETIREMENT PACKAGES: Below is a list of the retirement incentive packages being offered by the company. Information on the packages is available in the Human Resources Department and at the Benefits Offices at the union hall and at the plant.

Special Early Retirement (SER) Family Scholarship Program (FSP) Pre-Retirement Leave Program (PRLP) Special Termination of Employment Program (STEP) Enhanced Special Termination of Employment Program (ESTEP) Educational Opportunity Program (EDOPP) Focused Education Opportunity Program (FEDOPP) New - Entrepreneurial Special Program (ESP)

New - Enhanced Retirement Plan Incentive (ERPI) - Provisions: This incentive is payable form the Ford-UAW Retirement Plan and provides each eligible and approved employee a retirement incentive having an aggregate pre-tax value of $50,000 for production (non-skilled) employees or $70,000 for skilled trade employees. Each eligible employee will have the following options available to direct the incentive payments distribution:

  1. ‘Rollover’ the total distribution into an Individual Retirement Account (IRA), TESPHE, or another tax-qualified plan; or

  2. Receive the total distribution in cash less 20% for mandatory Federal withholding; or

  3. Elect to receive the incentive payment as a monthly annuity benefit. (Single employees will receive the annuity benefit in the form of a single life annuity while married employees will receive the annuity based on a 75% joint and survivor benefit option; no contingent annuitant option is available).

New - Special Early Retirement Plus (SER Plus) – This will allow employees that do not currently qualify for an SER package due to a break in credited service to add years of service.

Even though you may not currently qualify for a special retirement package, you can GROW IN to one of the following retirement packages if you become eligible subsequent to July 1, 2008 and prior to December 1, 2008: Enhanced Retirement Plan Incentive (ERPI), Special Early Retirement (SER), Special Early Retirement Plus (SER Plus) and Pre-Retirement Leave Program (PRLP).

The open window period to sign up for the above packages will be from now through March 18th, 2008 during the hours of 7:00 am to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday.

Please Note: Employees may revoke an application by informing the Human Resources Office, in writing, prior to the close of the application period, 11:59 PM on Tuesday, March 18th, 2008. Thereafter, your application may not be revoked for any reason and you will be terminated from employment on your last day of work prior to your company scheduled retirement date.

THE ELECTION COMMITTEE ELECTION will be held at Southview High School on March 9th. Polls will be open from 12:00 PM (noon) to 5:00 PM.

The drawing of numbers for the Election Committee candidates will be at 4:00 PM on Monday, February 25th at the union hall. Any candidate not in attendance at the drawing of the numbers will have his or her number drawn for them. Any candidates desiring a challenger must do so in writing by end of the business day at the union hall (5:00 PM) on March 7th.

BENEFIT OFFICE CHANGES: Our Benefits Representative, Ron Bills, is now at the plant 3 days a week in the former Visitor’s Center next to the turnstiles going into the Administration Building entrance. The office will be open at the plant on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8:30 AM to 12:00 PM (noon) and 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM. His plant phone number is 440.933.1071 and his fax number is 440.933.1065. Ron will be at the local union hall on Tuesdays and Thursdays, the same hours as at the plant (listed above). Ron’s phone number at the union hall is 440.934.3151, extension 29.

In the near future, to better serve the membership there will be lock boxes placed at various entry doors for members to deposit their medical bills, which will be picked up daily. Before you deposit your bill in the lock box, please be sure you have clearly printed your name, phone number, the last four of your social security number and the name of your insurance provider on your paper work. More information will follow in a future bulletin.

CONGRATULATIONS to Paul Triplett and Pete Filiaggi, Paul was elected Bargaining Committeeman in the Special Election and Pete was elected Skilled Trades Chairman/District Committeeman in the Run-off Election.

SATURDAY CANCELED: Chairman Nick Gallogly has been advised by the company that the March 15th tentative Saturday has been canceled for both shifts. As always, schedules are subject to change.
