Below, please find information and instructions to use if you worked the week of October 3rd but are laid off the week of October 10th.

Please note: Members who are laid off both weeks MUST NOT use the mass layoff number below.

UNEMPLOYMENT INFORMATION for the week of October 10, 2011: Last day worked: October 7th or 8th, depending on your schedule. You must file for unemployment online at http://unemployment.ohio.gov or if you do not have internet access by calling 1.877.644.6562. ODJFS business hours are 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM Monday – Friday, except holidays.

More information for filing your claim is listed as follows:

  1. Use Mass Layoff Number (1100424) provided by ODJFS for the week your layoff begins when filing for unemployment.

PLEASE NOTE: You must access the ODJFS website TWO TIMES or call ODJFS a total of TWO TIMES to receive benefits.

  1. Your first call or website visit (which is to make application for your layoff week) should be made October 9 or as early in the week as possible. Your second call or website visit (which is to make claim for your layoff week) should be made October 16th or as early in the week as possible.

**The ODJFS instructions indicate the last day to make application is Saturday, October 15th. Please do not wait until Saturday to file because if you do, you may encounter a problem that could force you to file your application late. Full details and instructions from the ODJFS are available in Human Resources and at the union hall. The ODJFS instructions will also be posted on our website at www.uawlocal2000.org. PLEASE follow the ODJFS instructions carefully.

WAITING WEEK INFORMATION: Members who were on layoff status and serving their waiting week will be denied unemployment. The ODJFS no longer mails waiting week notifications. You must go to the ODJFS web site and print your unemployment benefit payment documents and take BOTH PAGES to Human Resources to sign up for your sub pay. Signing up for sub this time will start your auto sub for one year in the event of future layoffs.
