SCHEDULED DOWN WEEKS: There will be no production the weeks of October 27th and November 3rd. FUTURE TENTATIVE DOWN WEEKS: The weeks of November 17th, December 1st, January 5th and February 2nd are scheduled down weeks. Of course, this is always subject to change and any changes will be communicated to you as soon as we are aware.

THE NEXT PAID HOLIDAYS ARE ELECTION DAY AND VETERANS DAY. Election Day on Tuesday, November 4th. You must work your next scheduled day, November 10th, 2008, or have an excused absence to be paid for the holiday. Veterans Day will be observed on Friday, November 14th. You must work Thursday, November 13th or have an excused absence to be paid for the holiday.

GENERAL ELECTION / EARLY VOTING: You can vote by absentee ballot via mail or vote early at your local county board of elections. Please call your board of elections or visit their website for further information.

ELECTION DAY HOLIDAY MUST BE CLAIMED ON UNEMPLOYMENT. Members on layoff status the week of November 3rd must claim the Election Day holiday pay on unemployment. You must claim 8 hours’ base rate plus cost of living allowance and shift premium, if applicable. Example: Base pay is $28.125 + COLA, which is $1.08 = $29.205 x 3rd shift premium .05 = $1.46. Then add $29.205 + $1.46 = $30.665 x 8 hours = $245.32. 3rd shift premium is .05 and 1st shift premium is .10.

UNEMPLOYMENT INFORMATION: You must file for unemployment by calling 1.877.644.6562 or by filing online at http://unemployment.ohio.gov. Some information for filing your claim is listed as follows:

  1. You must use the claim number (800745) provided by ODJFS for the week your layoff begins when filing for unemployment.

  2. PLEASE NOTE: You must access the ODJFS website TWICE or call ODJFS TWICE to receive benefits.

  3. Full details and instructions from the ODJFS are available in Human Resources and at the union hall. The ODJFS instructions will also be posted on our website at www.uawlocal2000.org.

  4. PLEASE follow the ODJFS instructions carefully.

**Please start making your first call or visit to the ODJFS web site starting Sunday, October 26th but no later than November 1st. **Your first call or web site visit is making application for unemployment benefits. **Your second call or web site visit is claiming your unemployment week.
**The ODJFS instructions indicate the last day to make application is Saturday, November 1st. PLEASE do not wait until that date to file because if you do, you may encounter a problem that may force you to file late for your application.

PAYCHECK INFORMATION: Paychecks for the pay ending October 26th will be distributed on Friday, October 31st by the main cafeteria in the administration building between 9:00 AM and 1:00 PM.

RETIREMENT AND INCENTIVE PACKAGES: The open window period to sign up for the retirement/incentive packages ends October 31st, 2008. All pertinent information and the applications are ONLY available in the Human Resources Department in the Administration Building.

ORDER BANK: As of October 20th, 2008 the Econoline Order Bank was 7,368.

FLU SHOTS will be given OCTOBER 30TH, 2008 at UAW Local 2000 Union Hall from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. The cost will be $10.00. Children six months and older are encouraged and THE FLU SHOTS ARE OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.

BENEFITS OFFICE HOURS DURING LAYOFF: The Benefits Representative will be at the union hall during the layoff period. Union hall office hours will be from 8:30 AM to 12:00 noon and from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM.

GATE COLLECTION FOR THE NEEDY: $1,860.00 was collected at the plant Friday, October 17th. Thanks to those who contributed and special thanks to those who volunteered for the gate collection. ANNUAL THANKSGIVING FOOD DRIVE: We will be collecting food for the needy now through November 13th. Donations of non-perishable foods may be dropped off in the main lobby by the medical department, at the top of the ramp in the old administration building or at the union hall.

THANK YOU FROM THE WOMENS COMMITTEE: $1,970.00 was collected at the gates on Friday, October 17th for the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. Thanks to all who contributed.

THE 50TH ANNUAL REGION 2-B, UAW BOWLING TOURNAMENT will be held at Beaver-Vu Lanes located at 1238 North Fairfield Road in Beavercreek, OH. The selected weekends are January 24-25, 2009, January 31-February 1, 2009 and February 7-8, 2009. Deadline for entries is November 21st, 2008, no exceptions. Please call the Linda at the union hall at 440.934.3151 Ext. 21 for further details.

THE NEXT MONTHLY MEMBERSHIP MEETING will be on November 9th, 2008 at 2:30 PM at UAW LOCAL 2000 Union Hall.
